Nova Scotia is made up of several distinct regions. Each has its own scenery, terrain, heritage, and even language. During the development of the Nova Scotia Bicycle Book, areas were designated by these factors, as well as climate, wind directions, and urban or rural settings. The areas are similar, but for the specifics of cycling, are slightly different from those recognized by Nova Scotia Department of Tourism.
